Guidance for directors on using the app with SECA and meeting your compliance responsibilities
This handbook explains how company directors and authorised office-bearers can work with SMALL ENTERPRISE COMPLIANCE AGENCY (“SECA”) through the Service Delivery App (“App”). It does not replace legal, tax, or governance advice. For who provides the app, technical credits, and the current app version, see App About. For binding terms, see the App Terms & Conditions, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.
Directors are responsible for leading the company lawfully and in its best interests. That includes accurate statutory filings (for example CIPC and related updates), honest dealings with regulators and advisers, and keeping records that reflect board decisions and authorisations. Using the App to brief SECA or approve work does not transfer these duties to SECA or to the App.
Only people with proper authority should create matters, approve instructions, or upload company documents. If you are not a director, ensure the board has delegated authority to you in writing where your organisation requires it. SECA may ask to confirm authorisation for certain instructions.
Directors and authorised users must supply complete, correct, and up-to-date information. Incorrect or incomplete data can delay filings, attract penalties, or affect tax and legal outcomes. Notify SECA promptly of changes to directors, shareholding, registered address, or trading details relevant to the mandate.
Before you confirm a mandate in the App (or in writing), review the described scope, expected steps, and fees. Regulatory processing times depend on third parties. Unless SECA agrees a fixed deadline in writing, dates in the App are estimates for planning, not guarantees.
Where the App records approvals or submissions, treat that record as part of your internal governance trail. Keep complementary board or shareholder resolutions where your company constitution or law requires them. Directors remain accountable for decisions reflected in the App.
Protect login credentials and devices used for the App. Do not share passwords. Revoke access for former directors or staff without delay. Sensitive company information should only be shared through agreed channels. Our Privacy Policy describes how personal data is handled.
Contact SECA directly (or your own professional advisers) if you are unsure about a filing, a director change, disputed instructions, suspected unauthorised access, or material compliance risk. The App supports routine communication; it is not a substitute for urgent legal advice where serious consequences may arise.
